The tools detects and removes threats from the “List of Viruses” included in the application.

Stinger is a standalone utility designed to detect and remove specific viruses and not a substitute for full anti-virus protection, but rather a tool to assist when dealing with an infected computer system.

Note: McAfee and this site recommends to disable system restore before running stinger to be sure that all viruses will not come back. Once these threats has been removed, you’ll not be able to restore them because all existing restore points will be deleted.

Scan Options

1. Smart Scan: This is the default scan mode used by Fake Alert Stringer that scans the system efficiently and quickly. In this mode, it scans a list of locations that are the most common infection points. Note: User-selected directories will not be scanned in this mode.

2. Full Scan: This step scans the entire C:\ directory and the user may add or change the various entries under “Directories to scan.”

Fix to Scan: Fix to Scan restores the system to a state in which users can run the softwares including an anti-virus scan itself to detect and remediate the infection. Often fake-alert infections prevents the machine from working as expected. In some cases, infections hijacks certain Windows Registry Keys that is associated to applications based on file extensions. The new detection mode Fix to Scan helps users in removing changes made by fake alerts.

Note: We recommend this mode of detection only when a user is unable to run any application.

Stinger utilizes next-generation of scanning engine technology, including processes scanning, digitally signed .DAT files and scan performance optimizations.

For general usage, the great thing, it easily fits on removable flash drives.

Unlocking Comodo Firewall in Windows Vista

The Free Comodo Firewall Pro is an Enterprise level Firewall security that secure your system against Internet attacks such as Trojan viruses and malicious programs, identity theft and offers host intrusion prevention which stops spywares and viruses from being installed (Same as UAC and Protected mode in Windows Vista). Both Internal and external protection from attacks are given for FREE.

Comodo Firewall = UAC + Protected Mode + Windows Firewall + Semi-Antivirus, Semi Anti-Rootkit and Semi Anti-Spyware Style Detection

But one thing I have noticed after using the firewall for a while, It is the most annoying firewall and protection that I encountered several times more than the UAC of Windows Vista. Also, due to advance detection capabilities, It blocks certain modules and functions that upon installation, sometimes after that, the software doesn't function or work properly.

For Beginners and Intermediate users, I recommend to install your IMPORTANT or TRUSTED programs first before installing this software. It's performance is at its best but it's very difficult to use and you need to confirm everything.

I tried to experiment the firewall with my software's WinBubble, WinGuggle and Winflog Extreme. WinBubble 1.74 and WinGuggle is a registry based programs and did not gave any alarm at all. It means, it doesn't monitor the settings made in the registry. WinFlog Extreme add-on winflog.exe gave a general alarm. As the creator of the program, I will say that it gave a false alarm. I know the code and specifically, it only checks the mouse clicking, anymore than that, nothing.

For programmers, intermediate and advanced users this firewall is amazing and recommended. It monitors everything including a simple command dialog controls (Open, Save, Browse and many more...)

Folder Security in Windows Vista

The new version of WinBubble has a new feature that adds "Set the Ownership to Current User Only" Right-click or context menu. The program is easy to use and you can now make a folder that only the current logon user (owner) can access the folder. Unless another administrator will add or take the ownership of the folder.

How about the Standard User Account? The account will not have an access to the folder unless he/she enter a correct password to the folder. Isn't that great?!

So, what's the importance of this?

If the Standard User Account got infected by a virus, the folder that was "Set to Ownership" is protected against virus infection.
Your folder is password protected and only administrator account can access it through adding permission or taking the ownership.

The next version of WinBubbles will automatically scan the default settings in each computer where WinBubbles will be opened or saved like the New WinBubbles-Lite 2009 which was released last May 8, 2009. The design was already planned last year. However the last updated version of WinBubble was released last year Sep 20, 2008. After that I did not release new updates for WinBubble.

The Restore to Default settings was designed to set the default configuration of your computer when it is newly installed regardless of the settings in the computer. The New WinBubbles-Lite 2009 will restore the settings that was detected after opening the program for the first time. Well, The incoming version of WinBubble that will be release soon will have both option.

Your correct. I don’t know if it will be included in the next version. WinBubbles was designed to be a portable application and you are not using WinBubble everyday. That’s my reason. However, It depends, I will consider or think about it.

Your correct about the password thing. Even if It was designed for Administrators but I think password protection is needed also. Thank you very much. This is a unique suggestion.

About the useful Help feature, all the Help Documents, examples and different ways of using the program is located in the website because again, WinBubble is given for FREE. In this way, users will help me maintain the utility itself.
